Title: Learning & Assessment Officer – SASA! Together Program
Reports to: Project Lead / Coordinator
Location: Ibba / Maridi – South Sudan
Contract Type: Regular
Duration: 12 Months
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary: According to YAH's Salary Policy

Purpose of the Role

To lead the implementation of SASA! Together's Learning & Assessment (L&A) framework, ensuring that learning is embedded throughout all phases of programming. This role supports quality improvement, accountability, and adaptive programming by collecting, analyzing, and applying data from community and institutional sources.

 

Key Responsibilities

L&A System Implementation

  • Roll out SASA! Together's L&A tools (e.g., Activity Plan & Report, Community Change Tracker, Institutional Assessment Survey)
  • Train staff, activists, and allies on ethical data collection and use of L&A tools
  • Ensure integration of L&A into all phases: Start, Awareness, Support, Action

Data Collection & Analysis

  • Conduct community focus group discussions and surveys to assess shifts in knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to inform programming decisions
  • Prepare monthly monitoring reports and feedback sessions for teams

Capacity Building

  • Mentor staff and partners on participatory learning and adaptive management
  • Support development of infographics, fact sheets, and learning briefs
  • Provide technical support for research studies and evaluations

Ethics & Safeguarding

  • Ensure informed consent, confidentiality, and safety in all L&A activities
  • Monitor for unintended consequences or backlash and recommend mitigation strategies

Coordination & Reporting

  • Collaborate with MEAL teams to align L&A with broader organizational systems
  • Compile weekly and monthly reports for internal and donor use
  • Develop Terms of Reference (ToRs) for assessments, workshops, and trainings

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Sociology, Gender Studies, Anthropology, or related field
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in GBV prevention, MEAL, or SASA! Together L&A
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, STATA, KoBo Toolbox)
  • Experience facilitating trainings and mentoring teams
  • Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills
