Responsibilities & Context

 

Position Title: Local Activism Officer – SASA! Together Program
Reports to: Project Lead / Coordinator
Duty Location: Ibba / Maridi - South Sudan
Contract Type: Regular
Duration: 12 Months
Employment Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary: According to YAH's Salary Policy
Vacancy Validity: 11th August 2025 to 29th August 2025

Purpose of the Role:
To support the implementation of the SASA! Together methodology by engaging community leaders, activists, and institutions in preventing violence against women and girls (VAWG) and promoting gender equality through local activism and social mobilization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and mentor community leaders and activists to implement SASA! Together strategies
  • Support local influencers in conducting awareness sessions, dialogues, and campaigns
  • Adapt SASA! Together toolkits to reflect local context and cultural relevance
  • Organize and deliver training sessions using SASA! Together modules
  • Provide ongoing mentorship and supervision to volunteers and community actors
  • Strengthen institutional allies through workshops on GBV prevention and risk mitigation
  • Collect data using tools like KoBo Toolbox, conduct FGDs, and community assessments
  • Draft weekly and monthly reports, including activity trackers and success stories
  • Collaborate with M&E teams to evaluate progress and impact
  • Promote safeguarding standards and ensure safe working environments
  • Champion feminist leadership principles, anti-racism practices, and inclusion of marginalized groups
  • Liaise with community stakeholders, service providers, and protection actors
  • Represent the organization in coordination meetings and advocacy platforms

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Psychology, Community Development, or related field
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in community mobilization, GBV prevention, or SASA! implementation
  • Strong facilitation, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Familiarity with gender dynamics, power analysis, and participatory approaches
  • Proficiency in MS Office, data collection tools, and local languages
